Sector: Methodologies, Services

Description

ENEA can provide appropriate and tailor-made solutions for wastewater management and depuration, mainly in urban and peri-urban contexts, characterized by water scarcity. These solutions allow  appropriate wastewater treatment to obtain a non-conventional water resource to be used for irrigation and/or other urban uses (e.g. public greening, fire prevention, etc.), and can be transferred to and meet the needs of developing countries.

Benefits and Advantages:

  • Production of additional water resources for irrigation or other uses
  • Higher energy efficiency and upgrading of existing treatment systems
  • Implementation of decentralized treatment systems

ENEA Service:

  • identification/design of upgrading and rationalization measures
  • technology transfer
  • technical support
  • consulting
  • design of tertiary treatment systems and technologies to be applied in existing or future municipal wastewater treatment plants.

ENEA Activities:

  • IJERA Project "Integrating Jordan into the European Research Area", (2010), Jordan.
  • Sustain Water Med – Network of demonstration activities for sustainable integrated wastewater treatment and reuse in the Mediterranean (2012-2016), Jordan, Morocco, Egypt, Tunisia.
  • EMWater – Efficient Management of Wastewater in Mediterranean Countries (2003), Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine, Turkey .
