Description

ENEA is one of the partners in the STS-Med project, co-funded by the EU under the 2007-2013 ENPI Cross-Border Cooperation in the Mediterranean Programme, aimed at demonstrating the efficiency of small-scale CS integrated systems and promoting their diffusion over the Mediterranean Basin, with focus on the development of a flexible “toolbox” of small-scale CSP plants applications (e.g., power supply, air conditioning, water desalination, possibly gasification, etc.).

ENEA Activities:

ENEA is involved in all research, experimental development and testing activities. Specifically, it leads the Work Package 5 “System technology, integration and design of CS applications toolbox“ focused on:

  • Technical studies of the different technologies and subsystems involved;
  • Choice of the optimal combination/ integration of technologies;
  • Design and modelling of the CS toolbox;
  • Localization and scaling to demonstration units.

The STS-MED project has won the Emirates Energy Award 2017, a regional prize awarded to highlight the best practices in the fields of renewable energy and sustainability.
